    2. My best Valentine? Well, actually, I haven’t had one yet. I grew up in a religion that didn’t celebrate it…so I missed out on all the cute fun things I’ve done for my children. My husband is not the “romancer” (sadly) so I shot myself in the foot there to. I can share my dream of a nice Valentine event… would involve a scavenger hunt type situation and leading me to dining, then dancing, then a rose pedal filled bed!

I will be blessed if its a Valentine ornament this year. 8D

My favorite Valentine’s is every year with my sweetheart–but really the best one was the Valentine’s before my husband and I were married. We had a special dinner and he asked me to marry him—12 years ago.

Favorite Valentine’s day…. can’t think of one off the top of my head. Been married too long with too many kids. I guess it would have to be one where I didn’t have to cook, stand in line too long, clean anything, and got to go to sleep by 9:00. My how things change!

My favorite Valentine’s Days are the times that the 14th is a night that all we have no other events and that my husband and I take our two daughters out for a special dinner!

One of my favorites was a weekend at Cape Ann and Rockport. There were gorgeous ice sculptures in the common.

My favorite Valentine is a true story borrowed from one of my girlies.

My daughter and her husband went to high school together. They hung out in the same crowd, yet never dated.
Though he was an avid member of an unusual “I love Kiki V.” club.
After high school graduation, while visiting a mutual college friend, they ran into each other on Valentines day.
One thing led to another and Cupid found his mark. They started dating immediately, apparently making up for lost time.
A few Valentines Days later, her beau rented out the local skating rink for a couple hours for just the two of them; as she had once mentioned how she missed being able to skate like she did in her basement while growing up.
After a picnic lunch, they skated to their hearts content. He grew impatient waiting for her to falter, so he faked a spill.
When she came to his rescue, rising up on one knee, he pulled out a ring, and executed the planned proposal.
Thus securing his long reign as President of the “I love Kiki V.” club.

I still am living here in the Lou (St. Louis) and am curious which alley you found that door that is the inspiration for your booth?
Love, Love, love that creative, sparkly, heart wreath. I hope it will be happy living at my house. I promise to keep it loved, well fed and clean up after it…

Gorgeous wreath! I’d love something like that to hang by entryway mirror.

Can’t think of the best Valentine’s day I’ve had because usually it involves our children–but I do like making a “red” dinner each year. Any food iem that can be red/pink, we try to use it for that dinner.

I think my favorite Valentines Day was the first one my husband and I shared. We had first started dating and I couldn’t decide if I should get him something or not, so I went with a bag of hershey kisses! I had no idea that he loved it so much! What a great guess!

My favorite Valentine’s Day was when my kids were little. Their homemade art project and notes are things you just can’t put a price on, because I will always treasure them.

Oh- Wait. I forgot to tell you about my most memorable Valentine’s Day? Oh- just scrolled back and you said FAVORITE? Well, this is the FUNNIEST. MANY years ago when I was young and cute…lol…I got invited to a Sheriff’s Ball by friends (a married couple) and told to bring a date. I had a wonderful, good-looking go-to date guy. I called him and he said he would pick me up about 7pm…and wanted to know what I was wearing. I told him a gold lame’gown (with cut outs at the waist)-remember, I was young and cute!;>) He showed up in a tux with a gold lame’ cumberbund. We got to the dance and we were the ONLY couple dressed up! Everyone else had jeans on and cowboy boots. lol We were the stars of the ball and had a blast! ahhhh…to be 23 again~ xo Diana

My 83 year old Daddy makes every Valentine’s Day the most perfect, when he shows up at my door with an “old fashioned” lace ribbon-covered heart box of chocolates and says, “Will you be my Valentine?”…a tradition that has not been broken since I was 3 or 4!!!! (now that’s LOVE)

Ohhh, My favorite Valentine memory ..was my first after my marriage. I had found an amazing diamond wrap on sale! With all the expense of a wedding (we had only been married for a month), I didn’t mention it to my husband. I did tell all my friends about it and I figured “next year”. On Valentines Day he gave me a large box. When I opened the box it was a pair of jeans, they were not only too big but they didn’t look So I was like “Awww thank you”, he kept asking me to try them on..Then I realized they were a pair of his jeans! The whole time he had a goofy grin on his face. Honestly, It hurt my feelings and I was a “tiny” bit angry because I thought he had forgotten and was making a joke out of Valentine’s day. Until he reached inside the pocket and pulled out my ring! I was overwhelmed and soo happy that I had not thrown them in the fireplace..well maybe I was more than a “tiny” bit angry..wink. But the best thing we gave each other that day, we had to wait 9 months to see, Our first daughter!

Not sure if I have one favorite Valentine’s Day. I always loved when I kids were younger helping them create their own handmade cards, baking heart shaped cookies together, heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, heart shaped sandwiches for lunch, well, you get the idea. I think the best of holidays and life in general is seeing it through the eyes of your children. Their joy and excitement is pure and unfiltered!

Favorite Valentine’s Day had to be back when I was a kid and got loads of Valentine’s Day cards from friends! So much fun to get.

I don’t know that I have a favorite Valentine’s Day, but I love our tradition from when I was a child. Every year my mom made great big sugar cookies, and she wrote our names on each one. On Valentine’s morning, we would come out to the kitchen table and at our place there would be our cookie and our stack of cards. We would all sit together and read our cards, and maybe–eat a little of our cookie! It was the best.

I don’t really have a favorite Valentine’s Day, but I always loved exchanging Valentine’s at school. And I remember that my mom would sometimes send me some balloons to the school. That was always very fun and special.

My most memorable Valentines was when my husband hired a Quartet to come to my work and they serenaded me and gave me a dozen roses then my hubby came in and gave me a beautiful heart shaped pendant necklace…….. It was so amazing!!

My favorite Valentine’s Day: My first Valentine’s Day married to my husband, Big Sweet Lew. He had gotten a recipe out of Men’s Fitness Magazine to make and surprise me. It was “supposed” to be baked salmon with shrimp and rice…. He burnt the salmon so badly that the smoke detectors went off. He did not know to rinse and clean the shrimp and instead added it to the “dry” rice resulting in the fishiest, most disgusting hard rice you can imagine…(he pointed out that the recipe never said you had to add water to the rice???) When I got home from work he presented me with this lovely meal. I appreciated the sentiment and tried to choke some of this down…after two bites, he stopped me and said, ” Let’s order pizza and take it to my mom’s house to eat. We need to air out this apartment or there’s no way we can sleep here tonight…”. Thank God for that! Now I only let him man the grill :)

  40. says

Ooo, me…pick me! Um, I mean, I am a follower ;-) By the way, Superstar’s rice story is HILarious! I don’t have a romantic Valentine story because my husband nor I are very “romantic”. He knows that a box of chocolates does the trick so that’s what I get and that’s what I like :-D

  41. says

And, I’m posting this on Facebook for the WORLD to see…

I am one of your best followers cuz I just love your blog! You’re already on my facebook “like” so I can’t redo that. LOL

My greatest Valentine? I would have to say several years ago when my husband and I had reservations to go out, but ended up staying in because my daughter was extremely ill. We ended up ordering Chinese and I picked it up to bring home. We sat on the floor in the dark and ate it and just talked about our day.
